It delivers email, calendaring, and real-time collaboration functionality for service providers and large organizations worldwide. It provides an extensible, standards-based development platform, with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.

Additional

Sun Java Communications Systems Client components such as Sun Java System Outlook Connector and Desktop Sync will be shipped as part of the Communications Suite. These components will be included on the Communications Suite DVD media kit in the client directory and can be individually downloaded.

LICENSING & SUPPORT

New customers can buy the Sun Java Communications Suite on a subscription basis or as individual point products (Sun Java System Messaging, Calendar and/or Instant Messaging) under either subscription or perpetual licenses.

Subscriptions include support whether the entire Suite is purchased or individual point products. Perpetual licenses however, do not include support; customers who purchase the later need to buy separate annual support contracts.

END OF LIFE

With this newly released version, Sun is ending the life of the Sun Java Communications Suite version 6 update 1. Last order date is July 31, 2009, and the last ship date is October 30, 2009.
