ZFS Compression Saves Space, Improves Performance

Counterintuitive though it may be, Brian Leonard describes why turning on ZFS compression saves space while also improving performance. "This is because the time it takes to compress and decompress the data is quicker than the time it takes to read and write the uncompressed data to disk (at least on newer laptops with multi-core chips)," he states. Oracle WebLogic Certified for LDoms

Oracle Weblogic Server 10gR3 (10.3) is certified for LDoms. "With this certification, Oracle will fully support customer installations that deploy the Oracle Weblogic Server 10.3 in an LDom partition," writes Daniel Powers. "This will allow multiple Oracle Weblogic instances to operate independently on a single Sun CoolThreads (CMT) Server in full hardware level isolation."
