This article introduces individual component product subscription pricing for Sun Identity Manager, Sun OpenSSO Enterprise, Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition and Sun Role Manager. Sales and partners will now have the option to offer their customers either a perpetual license or subscription when selling identity component products.

When buying Sun's Identity Management Suite, customers will now have the following four pricing options to choose from:

• Component Product Subscription: A component product subscription for a single Identity product. A subscription includes a software license and support.

• Component Product Perpetual License: A standalone software license for an individual component product within the suite. Support is sold separately.

• Identity Management Suite Subscription: A bundled subscription that includes all Identity Management Suite products at a single price. A subscription includes a software license and support.

• Java Enterprise Suite Subscription: A bundled subscription that includes all of Sun's Software infrastructure products at a single price point. A Java ES subscription includes a software license and support.

Over the past few months there has been increased demand from sales, partners and customers to not only offer subscription pricing for the Identity Management Suite and Java Enterprise System, but also for individual component products. This is due to the fact that identity is a highly competitive space with a need for a great deal of flexibility when it comes to pricing. By introducing individual component subscriptions, sales and partners will now be able to offer the following benefits:

1. Provide customers a choice with regards to how they want to buy identity component products - subscription versus perpetual license. 2. Provide customers a choice with regards to how they want to expense their Identity purchase - Capital Expense versus Operating Expense. 3. Provide customers with the ability to purchase license and support under a single SKU.

4. Provide customers with a lower year 1 price for individual identity product offerings.

5. Provide customers with an automatically renewable subscription.
