Sun Cooling Door 5600 Capable of Removing 100% of Heat Generated by the Sun Blade 6048 April 30, 2009, Volume 134, Issue 5
The Sun Cooling Door 5600 System is an energy efficient cooling system for the Sun Blade 6048 Modular System. As a rear door heat exchanger, it removes heat right at the source through the use of refrigerant gas technology and leveraging the Liebert XD system cooling infrastructure. Using R134a refrigerant gas coolant, Sun Cooling Door 5600 attaches through piping to a Liebert refrigerant pumping unit, typically a Liebert XDP system. Current Liebert XDP (refrigerant/coolant distribution unit) capacity is 160 kW and it will support up to four Sun Cooling Doors 5600. Minimum load for Liebert XDP operation is 32 kW and the maximum capacity for the Sun Cooling Door 5600 is 35 kW. Because specialized piping is required to connect the door to the pumping unit, Sun requires a certified Liebert installer to perform the installation of the door in the datacenter. Utilizing a 100% passive design, meaning there are no fans or electricity required, the Sun Cooling Door 5600 is much more efficient than traditional cooling systems. The 5600 adds only 5.9 inches to the 6048 chassis, minimizing datacenter footprint, and weighs 130 pounds empty and 141 pounds when filled. KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS

There are no Sun support service offerings for the Liebert refrigerant door. Support and installation services are handled by Liebert. Liebert shall provide warranty coverage for the Sun Cooling Door 5600 directly to the customer. The support agreement shall be directly between Liebert and the end customer. Service calls related to the Sun Cooling Door 5600 will be placed directly to Liebert. This service agreement includes Liebert providing a replacement door to the customer if such replacement is required.
Sun Professional Services consultants can design a comprehensive solution for customers that have one point of accountability, using services such as the Sun Eco Services Suite. Sun Professional Services has a reseller agreement with Liebert and access to their technical resources/training.
