Sun Open Cloud Platform at the SuperNAP

Although announced March 18th, Sun's open cloud platform has been up and running over the past few months in its home at the SuperNAP datacenter run by Switch Communications outside Las Vegas. Recently Scott Mattoon took a tour of the mega datacenter and shared his experience along with a video and other resources for the curious.

Drag & Drop Virtual Datacenter Deployment Tool

See a demonstration presented by Sun Cloud Computing CTO Lew Tucker who sat down with InformationWeek's David Berlind to show how Sun's GUI-based virtual datacenter deployment tool (all in a Web browser) works. The video "will give you some idea of how groundbreaking the Sun Cloud will be once it comes out of beta later this year," Berlind writes. It runs just over 7 minutes.

Sun to Keynote Cloud Computing Expo

Dave Douglas, Sun senior vice president of Cloud Computing, is the keynote speaker for SYS-CON\'s 2nd International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo in New York, March 30-April 1. Douglas will be joining Amazon's CTO Dr. Werner Vogels and IBM's Cloud Computing CTO Kristof Kloeckner in the keynote lineup.

Project Wonderland Discussion in Second Life

Sun has announced it will hold another Sun HPC Consortium event this summer in Europe. This year’s event will take place in Hamburg, Germany right before the ISC 2009 conference event. The consortium meeting will be held June 21st and 22nd.

Third Quarter Fiscal 2009 Financial Results

Sun will report its third quarter fiscal year 2009 financial results on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, and will be hosting a conference call to review the results beginning at 1:30 p.m. PT / 4:30 p.m. ET. The general public can access the financial results and listen to the call via Sun's Investor Relations website at http://www.sun.com/investors.
