Sun Identity Management Suite is the solution of choice for the United States Marine Corps (USMC) to protect over 400,000 Marines

The Sun Identity Management Suite is the solution of choice for the United States Marine Corps (USMC) to protect over 400,000 Marines in classified and unclassified networks.

The Sun solution will provide role-based access to a variety of business and mission systems to enable data sharing and collaboration in a trusted environment. The Sun Identity Management Suite includes:

  • Sun Identity Manager: the first user provisioning software to truly provide role-based user provisioning, enabling customers to use business roles for both identity lifecycle management and identity auditing across enterprise and extranet environments.

  • Sun Role Manager: (formerly Vaau's RBACx product) provides comprehensive role lifecycle management and identity compliance capabilities to streamline operations, enhance compliance, and reduce costs.

  • Sun OpenSSO Enterprise: (formerly Sun Access Manager and Sun Federation Manager) is the single solution for Web access management, federation, and Web services security.

  • Sun Java System Directory Server Enterprise Edition: the only high-performance directory server with essential data services including proxy, virtual directory and data distribution to provide a highly available directory service -- all in one solution.

With these Sun technologies in place, the system will securely “know” who a user is based on their role, and provide access to required systems based on this information. Sun hardware along with Solaris as the operating system will be used to support the identity and access management (IAM) project, which is part of the Marine Corps Enterprise Information Technology Services (MCEITS) program.

This strategic win is in partnership with BearingPoint, a management and technology consulting firm. [...read more...]
