Sun xVM Ops Center

-- what's it all about?

Owen Allen's announced intention in his blog on Sun xVM Ops Center is to present a summary of the solution and what it can do for users. "Sun xVM Ops Center is a datacenter management tool. You install it within your datacenter, and it serves up a browser user interface that lets you do a variety of things," he writes.

Among those "things" is the ability to discover and monitor hardware, OSes...much of what populates the datacenter, using a variety of discovery protocols and reporting out data on power, memory usage, CPU usage, and other matters.

Sun xVM Ops Center can also enable the remote installation of new operating systems, even in parallel if one seeks to reduce "downtime and boredom," in Allen's words.

Another attribute of Sun xVM Ops Center is its ability to download patches -- employing black lists and white lists to customize patch installation -- and doing all of this remotely once again.

Finally, Allen notes that with Sun xVM Ops Center, users can mange any number of Sun xVM Servers with the BUI, checking status, creating and cloning guests, creating Virtual Pools, even doing all of this in a dark site with Disconnected Mode.

Allen invites readers to click on a video tour of Sun xVM Ops Center to find out more.
