"OpenSPARC Internals" Now Available

This book is a key resource for the OpenSPARC community of designers, developers, and programmers to assist in their development efforts. It advises setting up simulation and emulation environments, as well as making changes to the OpenSPARC code such as configuring the number of cores or threads, adding extensions, fitting on to an FPGA, or paring to a smaller size. Written by the OpenSPARC team of engineers, and edited by David Weaver, this new publication is available from Sun, Amazon, and others.

Sun Receives Grant for Research and Development Project on Technology Accessibility

The European Commission has awarded a grant to the AEGIS Project (open Accessibility Everywhere: Groundwork, Infrastructure, Standards), which is based on a Sun-led proposal and technical architecture. Sun is leading global efforts in solving accessibility challenges for all devices from cell phones to desktops and Web applications by leading a consortium of over 20 other companies and organizations. The consortium will help define new approaches and solutions for building accessibility support into future information and communication technologies, leveraging open source technologies wherever possible.

ZDNet\'s Dana Blankenhorn commented that AEGIS may "leapfrog Microsoft’s work in this area" by providing an open method for accessing third-generation Web pages and applications.

Sun to Report 2QFY09 Results on January 27th

Sun will report its second quarter fiscal year 2009 financial results on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. The company will host a conference call to review the results beginning at 1:30 p.m. PT / 4:30 p.m. ET.
