Faced with the need to replace an obsolescent X Windows terminal access system that was not performing adequately on graphics-intensive applications and that had experienced frequent server outages, the U.S. Navy’s Integrated Warfare Systems Lab (IWSL), part of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), implemented a solution based on the Sun Ray.

Sun Enhances MySQL Enterprise with New Query Analyzer Tool
Boost Database Application Performance
Sun announced a major new version of its MySQL Enterprise subscription service to help corporate users dramatically improve the speed and uptime of their MySQL database applications. MySQL Enterprise subscribers now have access to Sun's new MySQL Query Analyzer tool for monitoring query performance to accurately pinpoint and correct problem SQL code -- in addition to MySQL Enterprise's regular software updates and 24x7 production technical support.

One issue with the old script, which Angelo tackled, is that it prints every SQL statement. This can be pretty expensive. Users can minimize this problem by printing to a file.

MySQL 5.1 Cluster Software
On the Solaris 10 OS for x64 Platforms

Sun released a 25pg. PDF that describes the instalation of MySQL 5.1 cluster software for the Sun Fire X4100 M2 servers which can run the Solaris 10 Operating System as x64 platforms. For two scenarios in which data is loaded and manipulated, the adjustment of the MySQL configuration necessary to execute these tasks is described in he article, including the installation which was performed with the Release Candidate Development Release of the MySQL 5.1 Community Edition software distribution.

Renames Sun Java System Application Server

Sun has just announced the availability of its Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v3 Prelude while at the same moment renaming the Sun Java System Application Server as the Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server. This action aligns Sun's product name with the highly successful open source Project GlassFish. No changes in functionality are involved with this renaming. Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v3 Prelude is a lightweight and modular platform for the development and deployment of web 2.0 applications.
