Sun Fire X4100 M2, X4200 M2, and X4240
Servers with 2GB Single-Rank DIMMs

Sun Fire X4100 M2/X4200 M2 Std Configs with 2GB Dual-Rank DIMMs and 1GB DIMMs, 2x 1GB Memory Kits, Dual-Rank 2x 2GB DIMM Kits, have been transitioned to new memory form.
 

The Sun Fire X4100 M2 and X4200 M2 Standard Configurations that are newly available are similar to the existing Sun Fire X4100 M2 and X4200 M2 Standard Configurations with the exception that many configurations now use 2GB DDR2-667 Single-Rank DIMMs providing larger memory capacity.

Sun Fire X4100

The Sun Fire X4100 M2 server is a two-to eight-core x64 server in a 1 RU form factor. It supports one or two quad-core or dual-core AMD Opteron processors, and is a compact power-saver which can run Solaris, Linux, Windows, or VMware. Some options available for the Sun Fire X4100 M2 are:

  • Upgrade from AMD Opteron dual-core to quad-core within the same power and thermal infrastructure

  • Upgrade to quad-core for less than 50% of the price of a new system

  • Four built-in Gigabit Ethernet ports, PCI-X and PCIe slots for high performance

  • 32GB of DDR memory

  • Integrated Lights Out Manager simplifies management, included at no cost

Sun Fire X4200

For high growth potential and speed in a 2RU rack server, the Sun Fire X4200 M2 server is fast, reliable, and expandable. Another two-way to eight-way core, it is flexible while running on either Solaris, Linux, Windows, or VMware. Some Options of the Sun Fire X4200 are:

  • One or two quad-core/dual-core AMD Opteron 2000 Series processors
  • Enterprise RAS features: redundant, hot-swappable components
  • Includes Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM)
  • Runs Solaris OS, Linux, Windows and VMware supported by Sun
  • More network expandability: four Gigabit Ethernet ports in a 2RU server
  • Upgrade to quad-core for less than 50 percent of the price of a new system

Sun Fire X4240

The Sun Fire X4240, is powered by the AMD Opteron 2200 and 2300 processor series. This two-socket, 8-core, 2RU system with up to twice the memory and storage capacity of any system in its class. It is the first and only two-socket AMD Opteron system with sixteen hard drive slots in a 2RU form factor. Some key elements of the Sun Fire X4240 are its:

  • Highly expandable 2RU size
  • 2 processor sockets, 2-8 core processing
  • Quad-Core and Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor 2200 and 2300 series
  • Over 2 terabytes of storage, up to 16 hard disk drives
  • 4 GbE ports, 6 PCIe slots
