Women Impacting Sun's Success
Five Female Employees Earn Prestigious Awards

These award winners are instrumental to Sun's business, inspiring not only women but the entire Sun community.

Women have had a substantial impact on Sun in relation to its growth, profitability and innovation, according to the YWCA of Silicon Valley, which recently honored four female Sun employees with 2008 Tribute to Women (TWIN) awards. They are:

  • Cheryl Cook, vice president of sales
  • Beverly Glasser, senior director of IT
  • Noreen Krall, vice president and chief intellectual property officer
  • Karen Tegan Padir, vice president, software infrastructure.

TWIN award winners are selected from a variety of organizations and recognized for contributing the above listed qualities to their respective organizations. These winners are role models for other women transitioning into executive positions, the YWCA believes, and honors them for it.

Sun also is privileged to employ this year's Anita Borg Institute 2008 Women of Vision Award in the Social Impact category - Distinguished Engineer Susan Landau. This award is bestowed on women making significant contributions to technology not only in the category of Social Impact, but also Innovation and Leadership.
