serves as a central repository for storing and managing identity profiles, access privileges, and application and network resource information

The latest update to the Sun Java System Directory Server Enterprise Edition (DSEE), version 6.3, is a patch release to version 6.0, 6.1 or 6.2. DSEE delivers virtual directory capabilities to help integrate identity data from multiple sources as well as provide seamless integration with Active Directory via on-demand password synchronization between Windows and Sun's directory server environments. It provides a solid foundation for identity management that serves as a central repository for storing and managing identity profiles, access privileges, and application and network resource information as well as data access consolidation to multiple directories and relational databases including MySQL, Oracle and DB2.

DSEE 6.3 features:

  • Performance improvement for some specific deployments such as deletion of a suborganization is now faster

  • Increased flexibility and security for deployments as Directory Service Control Center (DSCC) allows port change and listening on addresses defined by an IP address

  • Reduced disk space usage by purging replication metadata

  • Improved Directory Proxy Server: better interoperability with other DSEE components, increased security, allows bind operations to multiple data sources including Active Directory and to Sun Java System Directory Server, bad password attempts now block users from multiple data sources, increasing security.
  • Directory Server and Directory Proxy Server components now supported on SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and HP-UX 11.23 (PA-RISC only)

  • More flexibility in product installation on Windows as zip (compressed archive) can now be installed as any Windows user

DSEE 6.3 is available in the following distributions:

  • Native package distribution (Solaris PKG, Red Hat RPM, Windows MSI). Note: Identity Synchronization for Windows is not delivered in this distribution.
  • ZIP distribution (Solaris Operating System, Red Hat, SuSE, HP-UX, Windows) Identity Synchronization for Windows is only available in this distribution.

It is also available in the following forms:

  • Native patch: patches to upgrade Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.0, 6.1 and 6.2 native packages installed using the Java ES installer.
  • ZIP compressed archive based distribution: standalone delivery to install Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.3 or upgrade Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.0 and 6.1 and 6.2 ZIP installations.

The download is accessible from the DSEE\'s product page.
