New Configuration for Netra T2000 Servers Now To Be Built with 1GB DIMM; Retiring 512MB DIMM
There's something new in the wind for the Sun Netra T2000 eight core (8 GB) RoHS compliant server, which is being transitioned from the Sun product list and replaced by a new standard configuration based on a 1 GB DIMM rather than the 512MB DIMM, which is slated for EOL on September 5, 2008. Users of the Sun Netra product line will find in the newly configured Sun Netra T2000 server increased throughput with both footprint and power savings in a solution that meets the increasing demands of the network infrastructure using Sun's Chip Multithreaded (CMT) processor architecture.
Among the features of the Sun Netra T2000 server are:
Redundant DC/AC power supplies with separate power cords that permit running on one power supply with the second used for redundancy and load sharing.
UltraSPARC T1 processor featuring up to eight 4-way multithreaded cores with support for 32 simultaneous threads, eight threads executed per clock cycle.
Up to four 146GB 10Krpm NEBS 2.5-inch SAS drives that provide fast access to internal storage.
The Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS) is the supported operating system, and Sun Solaris Enterprise System and Sun Java Enterprise System application software are also supported, along with all third-party software certified for the Solaris 10 OS.
While the Sun Netra T2000 server architecture is able to address most workloads, Sun advises caution with workloads such as single threaded long running batch workloads with elapsed time as the principal performance metric; HPC floating point intensive workloads; and workloads with a high number of VIS instructions.
The Sun Netra T2000 server supports legacy telecommunication PCI cards with 3x PCI-X slots (3x full-height, 2x full-length, 1x half-length) and 1x PCI-E slots (x8) low profile.
The Sun Customer Ready (CRS) program can integrate, test and ship racks of custom-configured systems. With the Sun CRS program, you may choose from not only Sun but also third-party hardware and software.
