Organizing and Managing Data Volumes in Solaris Zones BigAdmin Community Tech Tip Addresses Volume Management
Learn how to organize and manage data volumes in Solaris Zones on systems that run the Solaris 10 Operating System (Solaris OS) from a BigAdmin community tech tip submitted by Mike Thomasson, who has tested this information only with Veritas Volume Manager but suspects it will work with other volume management tools.
The suggestions are as follows:
Create a separate disk group on the global zone for each non-global zone.
Create the volumes needed for each non-global zone within the disk group for that zone.
Configure the file systems in each zone using zonecfg, add fs, set dir, set special, set raw, set type, and set options.
The mount point specified for a zone is located in the zone's root directory structure (for example, /export/zone001/root). You can mount the volume from the global zone by using this as the mount point. It will show up within the zone.
You can also use growfs from the global zone on the fly.
