Making it Easier, Faster and More Affordable to Buy Sun Technology

Sun is making it easier, faster and more cost-effective for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to use technology to gain a competitive advantage through a new initiative designed to make buying Sun technology easy and affordable for this market. The company has set up a new Web page and expanded its Try and Buy program specifically for SMBs.

Announcing the Sun Ray Unified IP Client from Mitel
Industry's First Truly Unified Communications Desktop

Mitel Inc. and Sun will be releasing a joint solution that combines a Sun Ray thin client with a Mitel IP desk phone to be accessed via a Java-based smart card. The Sun Ray Unified IP Client is expected to ship in May at a cost of less than $500.

NetBeans Scores "Best Development Environment" Jolt Award
Wins Two Productivity Awards with Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5.2

For two years in a row the NetBeans IDE has taken the award for the "Best Development Environment" at the 18th Annual Jolt Product Excellence Awards ceremony. The Jolt awards celebrate the most innovative, trend-making, ahead-of-the-curve products in the software industry. NetBeans also garnered a "Productivity Award" in two categories: Web Development and Mobility Development (with Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5.2).

Sun Joins The Open Group at Platinum Level
Commits to Furthering Open Standards, Interoperability

Sun has joined The Open Group, a vendor- and technology-neutral consortium focused on open standards and global interoperability within and between enterprises, as a Platinum-level member. Sun will be a contributor to the Architecture Forum, which developed and continues to evolve TOGAF, an industry standard that may be used freely by any organization wishing to develop its own in-house enterprise architecture.
