The Sun StorageTek 750GB 7200RPM Low Cost Fibre Channel HDD, also referred to as Low-cost FC SATA II, is designed for the Sun StorageTek 9985V and 9990V Systems where it can provide high capacity for applications that require capacity and optimized reads for large files.

The 750GB 7200RPM combines high capacity with high performance, giving this HDD increased capacity levels along with a lower $/GB in comparison to the currently offered 300GB 10Krpm HDD.

This HDD supports in-box tiered storage management solutions and more than doubles the maximum internal capacity of the Sun StorageTek 9985V and 9990V to 180TB and 830TB, respectively.

Initial support is for Open Systems only under the VO2 microcode release (DKCMAIN 60-02-XX-00/00). Mainframe support will follow with the V03 microcode release currently scheduled to be available during the second quarter of 2008.

Tier-2 and Tier-3 applications, such as archive, data protection, and reference data applications, are the 750GB 7200rpm Low-cost FC HDD's targeted market.
