Sun's Second Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report demonstrates in concrete terms the company's actions in striving toward responsible practices environmentally, economically and societally during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007.

"Sun is 100% committed to developing and adhering to principles that guide our actions in business and social conduct. To innovating in the creation of responsible and sustainable solutions. And to participating with communities and organizations to enable the sharing of knowledge and technologies for positive social and environmental impact," writes President and CEO Jonathan Schwartz in his opening letter.

This report evinces the company\'s progress in becoming more socially responsible through its continued practice of openness, innovation and eco-responsible forethought.

Highlights from Sun's 2007 Corporate Social Responsibility report include:

• Sun's eco responsible servers, storage and software designed to use less energy while providing equal or better performance than standard datacenter offerings.

• Its 10 out of 10 rating by Governance Metrics International (GMI) which scores for board accountability, financial disclosure and internal controls; shareholder rights; executive remuneration; takeover defenses and ownership base; and corporate behavior.

• Over 3,000 Sun-sponsored blogs from its employees, demonstrating the company's earnest attempt at openness and transparency.

• Its published statistics on monthly energy use and related CO2 emissions for its major U.S. facilities.

• Sun's Open Work program, which has reduced required office space by more than 15 percent or 2.6 million square feet in FY07.

• Holding the title of the largest single contributor to open source communities, with up to five times as much code donated than competitors.

"This report provides concrete evidence that Sun's business and social responsibilities are closely aligned," Schwartz continues. "I'm proud of the progress Sun has made. We'll continue to pull back the curtain so that everyone can see what we're doing to promote a sustainable and responsible approach that creates value for all our stakeholders."
