The newest update to the Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS) makes it easier for new customers to migrate to the Solaris OS, while enabling existing customers to reap the power of Sun's continuing investment in innovations for Solaris without disrupting operations. The new version is Solaris 10 8/07.

Featuring:

• More mature Solaris Containers technology

• New Solaris Containers for Linux Applications: run existing Linux applications on x86 systems running the Solaris OS without modification

• Now use the Solaris Live Upgrade feature to deploy new patches to systems running with Solaris Containers

• New Large Send Offload feature reduces the workload of a system's CPU by offloading networking processing operations to network interface card hardware

• PostgreSQL 8.2 is fully integrated with Solaris OS

"With the latest update to Solaris, the virtualization capabilities of Solaris Containers technology have matured, and are now even better adapted to our customers' needs.
