UltraSPARC T2 (Niagara 2) Chip Unveiled
64 Threads, On-chip 10GbE NIC

The UltraSPARC T2 chip from Sun (code-named Niagara 2) is being unveiled and will be in the Sun Blade T6300 server module, 1U and 2U servers later in 2007.

Sign Up for the OpenSPARC T2 Beta Program
Programmer's Reference Manual also Available

Members of the OpenSPARC.net community can have access to the source code of the OpenSPARC T2 prior to public release. The beta program is designed to increase the speed of the debugging process so as to have a better first release of the technology.

Sun Enters Commodity Market with UltraSPARC T2 Processor
David Yen and Jonathan Schwartz Assert Business Value of Chip

The UltraSPARC T2 processor will be available for sale separate from Sun systems, launching Sun into the commodity market for processors. New License for Java Compatibility Tests to OpenJDK Community Released
Tests, Tools and Documentation for Complying with Java SE 6

A new license compatibility kit is available for the OpenJDK community. Members of the Java GPL software community can use the kit to test their open-source Java implementation to see if it complies with the Java SE 6 specification.
