Volume 113, Issue 4

There are two tech tips this week for the Sun Connection Service, a lifecycle management platform. The first tech tip focuses on improving cache performance of Sun Connection's satellite deployment architecture, while the second explains how to improve Sun Connection version 1.1's performance by disabling database dumps.

Optimizing Your Sun Connection Cache

Sun Connection automatically manages downloads; however, the cache size default value is relatively small (only 512 Mbytes). In this BigAdminSM feature tech tip, Eran Steiner explains how to increase cache size in four simple steps so downloading big baselines is permitted and optimized.

Improve Your Sun Connection Performance

In this tip, Steiner details the process of disabling database dumps. This is recommended for environments that already have a backup performed on a regular basis. An environment with lots of machines, users and various operating systems will experience a great improvement in performance of the management server with the Sun Connection backup mechanism disabled.
