Weekly Summary:

Sun Studio 12 software is the subject of a few new videos: One SDN video features Don Kretsch, senior director of Developer Tools at Sun, who discusses Sun Studio 12's latest features, new compilers and its new point-and-click IDE, based on NetBeans 5.5.1. See article [18304].

Another video features Gordon Prieur, Sun staff engineer and project lead for Sun Studio IDE, who discusses some features and covers which platform is best for which developers. See [18321]. A quick-start tutorial is also available; see [18306].

Results from a single-threaded Postmark test marked the Solaris ZFS processing over 4,000 transactions per second more than Microsoft. During BenchW testing, Solaris ZFS demonstrated improvement over Microsoft in unindexed and indexed queries. For more details of these tests, see article [18307].

Did you know that the "Security Target" part of the Common Criteria EAL4+ CC evaluation that IBM and Red Hat are getting tested will not test key features and will reduce the functions available to the user?
