With up to eight dual-core 2.1 GHz SPARC64 VI processors, and mainframe-class features, this 10RU system has redefined the midrange.

The Sun SPARCR Enterprise M5000 server features a new 10RU rack optimized enclosure with PCI-X and PCI-Express I/O and up to 50 PCIe or PCI-X slots with optional External I/O Expansion Unit. Get mainframe RAS capabilities in this mid-range server that is ideal for virtualization and application consolidation.

Other features:

  • Up to 8 high performance dual core SPARC64 VI processors and up to 256GB memory

  • High-speed, low-latency interconnect system bus with redundant data, address, and response crossbar interconnect

  • Sun StorageTek compatible tape libraries and disk arrays

  • Resource Management: Dynamic Domains, Solaris Resource Manager including Solaris Containers

The Sun SPARC Enterprise servers are fully compatible with earlier versions of Solaris OS. The server has up to 4 dynamic domains with assignment flexibility. With the Solaris 10 OS (which is preinstalled), you can apply up to thousands of Solaris Containers per system to completely isolate and protect the applications, data, and performance within each container.

The Sun SPARC Enterprise M5000 server comes with the full Sun Solaris Enterprise System, which includes licenses to run some of the most popular software components of the Sun Java Enterprise System software. This powerful and complete suite gives you a wide range of choices to consolidate your IT infrastructure on integrated, open, standards-based systems.

The Sun SPARC Enterprise M5000 server is available as a Sun System Pack, which combines the server with the right services as one offering. Sun System Packs offer advantages over traditional warranty with enhanced service coverage, automatic OS updates and training credits. The predictable, transparent pricing for Sun System Packs is less than purchasing the server and services individually.
