The open-source Mobile & Embedded Community team has launched a new project called the ME Application Developers Project to encourage and assist JavaTM ME application developers in building mobile applications. Find resources such as demos, source code, tools and tips.

New as of this past week:

  • Project Demo Box: Wireless Toolkit (WTK) demos available under BSD. These illustrate the important concepts and features of the Java ME platform.

  • phoneME UI Labs: SVG demos and tutorials focusing on user interface designs for mobile devices.

  • Project Marge picks up steam. A new version of the marge-core is in the works as of the last weeks of May 2007. The new version aims to improve development of Java technology Bluetooth enabled applications.

  • Mobile Ajax now available. The Mobile Ajax for Java ME project contains an implementation of the Atom Feed Format for Java ME. It is designed as a streaming API with limits to prevent large feeds from overwhelming resource-constrained devices. Also included is limited support for the Atom Publication Protocol and RSS.
