Code Now Available on OpenJDK Project on java.net Under GPLv2

Ericsson and Sun to Collaborate on Application Server and Add Resources for Developers
Developers Can Build VoIP, IM and Multimedia into Java-based Applications

Sun and Ericsson will jointly develop an open source, Java technology-based communications application server for deploying on wireless networks. The two companies will work on the Sun Java System Communications Application Server as part of the GlassFish community and the SailFin open source project.

Improvements Include Innovative Real-time Garbage Collector, Support for x86 Hardware and for J2SE 5.0

Sun released Sun Java Real-Time System 2.0, a standards-based extension of the Java platform. Sun Java Real-Time System 2.0 solves the problem of setting process priorities according to their importance (something typically not supported in Java software applications). It contains enhancements over the first conformant commercial implementation of the Real-Time Specification for Java (JSR-001), including a predictable method for recycling memory within Java software programs.
