Sun Streaming System
IP video delivery platform

Sun introduced a new IPTV/video on demand (VOD) platform for cable and telecommunications operators; it's called the Sun Streaming System. Operators can offer customers personalized television services at a lower cost than is traditionally associated with this service. Subscriber content can be customized, advertising can be targeted (permission-based), and high-definition video streaming can be offered on demand. The system can scale to offer new services and is designed to take advantage of new consumer-oriented computing markets. The system does not use a cable box.
