Virtualization remains a hot topic: This week we have a webinar on how Sun and VMware work together to bring you a virtualized desktop (see article number [17819]). There is also a new webpage for the Sun Virtual Desktop Solution with resources and videos [17911].

There is also a new blog dedicated to security issues [17887] with postings by Sun staff and room for comments from readers like you.

If you are considering attending the upcoming JavaOne conference, look into the new Blu-ray and cable television sessions added [17915]. New, faster UltraSPARC IV+ 1.95 GHz and 2.1GHz processors are available. New benchmarks have resulted in world records for the Sun Fire E6900 and E2900 server. Sun Fire X2200 M2 Server also has a new test result posted.
Marvell Technology Group Licensed to Build Products with Sun's Multithreaded Ethernet Technology
Technology to Efficiently Break Bottlenecks
Sun has licensed its multithreaded Ethernet technology to Marvell. They will build chips and the two companies will collaborate on future generations of highly threaded Ethernet I/O in silicon, which are expected to include 10GbaseT, 40 Gig E and eventually 100 Gig E technology. Marvell will also build specific products for Sun using this technology.
Boeing and Sun Microsystems Federal Collaborate on a 10 Gigabits per Second Architecture
To Process Massive Data Amounts Faster
Sun and Boeing have designed an architecture that enables real-time access to data at speeds of 10 gigabytes per second. The solution is designed for use by government, life science, energy, education, aerospace, and media and entertainment industries.

OpenSSH has been updated (released March 9, 2007). The new version is 4.6/4.6p1. Versions for Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS), versions 7 through 10, are currently ready, according to sunfreeware.com. Also OpenSSL packages (version 0.9.8e) have been added.

Using the servers with the UltraSPARC IV+ Chip Multithreading (CMT) processor provides the company with an efficient billing system while maintaining a reasonable price point. This is the first time these servers are being deployed in Bangladesh.
