Eclipse Foundation Joins JCP

The Eclipse Foundation has reportedly joined the Java Community Process (JCP) on January 12, 2007. It also joined the Object Management Group (OMG) and the OSGi Alliance, because as Eclipse Executive Director Mike Milinkovich said, "Many projects at Eclipse rely on standards from JCP, OMG and OSGi, and we believe its simply good behavior to contribute back by joining."

The Sun Fire T2000 server with 1.4GHz UltraSPARC T1 using Lotus Domino 7.0.2 mail server delivered world record results with best per-socket performance of 23200 and world record performance/watt for the Lotus R6iNotes on Domino mail HTTP based R6iNotes benchmark. The Sun Fire X4600 M2 server also delivered world record performance on the floating-point throughput suite of SPEC CPU2000, for all 4-socket x86 systems.
