Sun has announced a trade-in incentive program for customers wishing to upgrade from the Sun FireTM V100 or Sun FireTM V120 server to the Sun FireTM V210 or Sun FireTM V240 server. Allowances on trades of the Sun Fire V100 or V120 Sun Fire to the Sun Fire V210 are eight percent; on trades of the Sun Fire V100 or V120 Sun Fire to the Sun Fire V240 are 12 percent. Program requirements are that the new Sun Fire V210 and Sun Fire V240 severs must be minimum 2 CPU configurations. All other UAP program requirements apply as well.

Benefits of these upgrades include:

• Sun Fire V210/V240 offers 2X or more the performance from faster CPU(s), memory & drive architecture.
• Sun Fire V210/V240 allows potential server consolidation, with resulting power savings, as well as the possibility of using SolarisTM Operating System (Solaris OS) partitions
• Sun Fire V210 offers the same compact 1U form factor as Sun Fire V100/V120
• Sun Fire V240 provides redundant PSUs & 3x the number of PCI slots than V120
• Sun Fire V100/V120 host ID can be transfered to the Sun Fire V210/V240 via SCC (requires new SCC to be programmed via Service). Important for SW using host ID for licensing.
• Sun Fire V210/V240 supports Solaris 8, 9 & 10 OS and binary compatibility
