Sun is offering its customers savings of up to 15 percent on trades of qualified Sun and non-Sun systems to the Sun FireTM T1000 and Sun FireTM T2000 servers with CoolThreadsTM technology. Customers can receive savings of up to 15 percent toward the breakthrough Sun Fire T1000/T2000 servers when they upgrade from Sun UltraSPARCR II, IIi, III or IIIi based servers, and non-Sun servers including Xeon, Alpha, PA-RISC and IBM-Power based systems. These are ongoing, not time-limited upgrade opportunities.
Three levels of allowances are available depending on the age and number of systems:
- 5 percent savings: trading in qualified Sun or non-Sun systems 4-5 years old, toward an eligible Sun Fire T1000 or T2000 system
- 10 percent savings: trading in qualified Sun or non-Sun systems 0-3 years old, toward an eligible Sun Fire T1000 or T2000 system
- 15 percent savings: trading in multiple qualified Sun or non-Sun systems toward an eligible Sun Fire T2000 system
Because the Sun Fire servers with CoolThreads technology deliver up to 3x the performance using as little as half the energy, and in a smaller footprint vs. comparable systems, they are the world's first eco-responsible servers. Also, the Sun Fire T1000 and T2000 servers deliver up to 15x the throughput of UltraSPARC IIIi based systems. With 100-percent binary compatibility, customers can benefit from seamless transitions to the latest technology while preserving application investments.
With these attributes, the Sun Fire T2000 servers make a great consolidation platform, delivering energy, space, and cooling savings; greater throughput to do more with fewer servers; and improved management and security capabilities. And with the Sun UAP consolidation option, customers who purchase a Sun Fire T2000 server can also benefit from lower upfront hardware acquisition costs through trade-up allowances of up to 15 percent.
