The JavaTM Enterprise System (JES) team is pleased to announce the launch of the Java Enterprise System 5 Beta Program. The beta program will start August 23, 2006.
The JES team is looking for customers and partners who are willing and positioned to participate not only in this evaluation but in ongoing customer acceptance evaluations. The program will be based on the fifth release of the Java Enterprise System software.

Related information:
1. Java Enterprise System has implemented a new product versioning convention which removes the previously announced name/date convention of "2006Q4". The JES team apologizes for not having it implemented fully for beta, but all suites and component products will have the Java Enterprise System 5 version implemented by our GA date.
2. The business model for Sun Java System Communications Suite (Calendar Server, Messaging Server, Instant Messaging) is changing. With the introduction of Java ES 5, the Communications Suite and its components will no longer be available under the Java ES license and entitlement but instead as a separate suite (and individual products). The beta program for Communications Suite will be run co-incident with, but independent of this Java ES 5 Beta program. Applications for this Beta are now being accepted.
