Upon a competitive review of server virtualization solutions, including Red Hat and VMware, Pella says that they chose to implement Oracle VM, which aligned with its strategic vision of greater efficiency and performance at lower cost, along with enterprise class support that Pella needed for its critical business systems.

By moving to a virtualized environment, Pella expects to reduce its infrastructure costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars per year to less than $20,000 per year. The initial savings in maintenance costs more than covered the project’s cost.

Qualcomm has opted for Oracle's Sun SPARC Enterprise servers to provide the enterprise-class, scalable infrastructure needed to support its large developer community and corporate IT systems. Oracle reports that Qualcomm runs a wide-range of mission-critical Oracle Applications, including CRM, Business Intelligence and Financial applications, as well as Oracle Database 11g, on the Sun SPARC Enterprise M3000 and Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 servers. The company also uses Sun SPARC Enterprise servers to operate many of its Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and engineering infrastructure.

Oracle has made a acquired 10.2% of Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. , a leading supplier of end-to-end connectivity solutions for servers and storage systems

"Mellanox has had a long standing relationship with Sun, and now Oracle, that goes back over eight years," said Mellanox CEO Eyal Waldman.

"InfiniBand is by far the fastest and most efficient switch fabric for running enterprise data centers," said Oracle CEO Larry Ellison. "Mellanox has been instrumental in maintaining InfiniBand's immense competitive lead over Ethernet. We are a big supporter of the company and this investment based upon our belief in the InfiniBand technology and in the Mellanox management team."

Oracle has stated that Mellanox is expected to continue to work with all technology vendors and they will make Solaris a core supported operating system platform.
