Sun Researchers Honored with Best Paper at SC08
SC08, the international conference for high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis, wrapped up a record-setting event on Friday, Nov. 21, following the recognition of achievements by a number of attendees. Among the honors presented during the conference was the award for Best Paper given to Hans Eberle, Robert Drost, Nils Gura, David Hopkins and Wladek Olesinski (Sun Microsystems) and Pedro J. Garcia, José Flich and José Duato (Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha) for their research on "High-Radix Crossbar Switches Enabled by Proximity Communication."

Next-Generation Sun Constellation And More
At SC08, Sun showed its latest HPC technologies and services that are reinventing the HPC cluster. Highlights include the next-generation Sun Constellation System -- with double the storage capacity, double the cores and double the compute nodes of the original Sun Constellation System, the "Genesis" storage array, new "Magnum" switch solutions, the "Glacier" cooling door and storage flash arrays. Sun also announced HPC hardware and software solutions that are designed for easy entry into HPC.
