Upgrading a Zone on an EFI-Labeled Disk in the Solaris 10 OS

If a zone is installed on a disk that is labeled with Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI)/GUID Partition Table (GPT), then the zone and the system cannot be upgraded. Here's a way to move a zone on an EFI-labeled disk to a slice on an SMI-labeled disk, so that you can upgrade the Solaris OS and then move the zone back to its original location.

LOFS Mounted Platform-Specific Routine Libraries With CMT UltraSPARC Systems

The concept of a platform-specific routine (PSR) library, already found with the Solaris 10 OS, is extended on chip multithreading (CMT) systems using UltraSPARC processors. On these systems, PSR capability has been enhanced to support multiple PSR versions: one per processor, per platform. This allows a platform to support multiple processors, and each processor can be optimally utilized.

Managing I/O Topology Changes Due to CPU Chip Failures in Multi-Node sun4v Platforms

The device_remap Perl script, included in OpenSolaris build 106, can manage I/O topology changes due to CPU failures. For example, Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 and T5440 servers have an integrated Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) topology that causes the I/O device paths to change when a CMP node fails. A change to the boot path requires reinstallation of the OS. The device_remap script addresses the need to reinstall the OS after I/O topology changes.
